Description

The Pindo Palm is the hardiest feather-leafed palm and is known for producing a delicious fruit with a similar banana and pineapple taste. Aside from produce, this Palm is known for its durable cold-hardy temperament, wind resistance, and low maintenance, drought tolerant, and is moderately salt tolerant. These characteristics make the Pindo Palm an excellent tropical choice for landscaping in areas that incur cold snaps under freezing temperatures.

*Due to its fruit, it is advised to plant at least 10 feet away from concrete or paved surfaces. *

Maintenance

Sunlight: Full/ Partial

Pruning: This palm requires minimal dead leaf trimming 1-2x a year to prevent “skirting.”

Fertilizer: Slow-release palm fertilizer, such as an 8-8-8 formula twice a year for faster growth in the spring and summer.

Watering: Scheduled irrigation is ideal. Water your palm 2-3 times per week for the first month, then once a week for the remainder of the first year after planting it. Keep the soil moist but well-drained, watering more in times of drought and less when there is rainfall.
