Medjool Date Palm

Phoenix dactylifera 'Medjool'

The Medjool Date Palm is one of the most iconic and majestic palm trees in the world, recognized for its towering presence and lush, feathery canopy. Its tall, textured trunk develops a rugged pattern formed by old leaf bases giving it a sculptural, architectural appearance. It has a pineapple like thicker shape at the top, and a crown of long, deep green feather-style fronds that spread outward in dramatic arches.

This palm tree thrives in USDA zones 9-11 and can grow 60-80 feet tall with a canopy spread of up to 20-30 feet.  Known not only for its beauty but for producing the famous sweet Medjool dates, it prefers full sun, well drained soil, and warmer climates. Once established, the Medjool Date Palm is relatively hardy, tolerating drought and heat while adding undeniable grandeur to the landscape.

Whether it is planted as a statement tree in a large estate, or lining a long driveway, the Medjool Date Palm brings timeless elegance and a Mediterranean vibe in a scale that few palms can match.
